Myanmar Army declared a temporary ceasefire from April 2nd to 22nd

The military has declared a temporary ceasefire from April 2nd to April 22nd, prioritizing stability and peace to facilitate relief, rescue, and reconstruction efforts following the devastating earthquake on March 28, which has severely impacted people across the country.

According to the military’s statement, the powerful earthquake and subsequent aftershocks have caused damage to roads, bridges, and buildings in the affected areas, resulting in casualties and injuries among the public.

The statement also mentioned that the government is actively continuing rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts in response to the damage and losses caused by the disaster.

The military has urged ethnic armed groups and other armed organizations to refrain from disrupting or attacking public transportation routes, as well as causing harm to civilians and their properties, during the declared temporary ceasefire period.

The military has also issued a statement urging all groups to refrain from attacking security force bases, disrupting military headquarters, mobilizing forces, regrouping, or expanding territories in ways that could undermine peace and stability.

The military has also warned that if these restrictions are ignored and actions are taken contrary to the ceasefire, necessary countermeasures will be implemented to protect the public.
